Langston Hughes was born 02-01-1902 in joplin missouri he published his first poem in 1921 he attended columbia univirsty but left after 1 year to travel:  Langston Hughes House, Langston Hughes. Harlem, New York, NY:
Poetry- I put this book on my wish list because I feel it is important to highlight poetry from someone of a different race and for my students to be exposed to poetry from all different kind of people. Langston Hughes wrote poems about Civil Rights which can also be tied into a history lesson in the classroom as well.:
