Fairy Tales and Quests

Top New Children's Books on Goodreads, April 2013

A Tale Dark and Grimm Terrifying remix of Grimm fairy tales. Not terrifying because of all the ghosties and murderers, but because of the commentary on parent-child relations.

e me appreciate the women's rights activists that came before me, how far we've come

A magic portal to enter the land of Faerie... From life-like-fairytales and chrystalstar on Tumblr "Fairy tales are more than true: not because they tell us that dragons exist, but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten.” - Neil Gaiman
The Legend of the Black Freighter: dreamed of by a serving girl in a tavern. One day it will come, level the tavern and its obnoxious clientele if not the whole town... and then declare the serving girl Pirate Queen and sail over the horizon with her. The scene changed from the forest we had been standing in to a room with a blanket of snow and white animals.
In the new world, there should be a sort of underground civilization and life, with dwarfs and gnomes and different kinds of people. Anyway, just thoughts. Alexis: I like that idea. This reminds me of the Beavers' home in The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe
STORY PROMPTS: What land does she come from? Describe it. Think about some scenes from her childhood.  this image reminds me of several beads in the Trollbeads family...Snowball, Winter Snow, Snowflake earrings, Snow Star earrings just to name a few... #trollbeadswishlist

"So come with me, where dreams are born, and time is never planned. Just think of happy things, and your heart will fly on wings, forever, in Never Never Land!"Neverland (2011) Poster
This pin is important because in the story " The Wizard Of Oz" because in the story, the twister picks up Dorothy's house, and transports her to the magical land of OZ. This would not happen at all in everyday life. Ever wonder why the wicked witch of the west is green? Or how she became so WICKED?? Read this book by Gregory Maguire. Very interesting, creatively written history on the witches and the land of OZ.

Multiplication Strategy: Partial Product

Here's an example of solving a multiplication problem using a matrix box. (Think of this as an organized way to solve partial products using expanded notation.) Here's a set of 3 posters that give examples of multi-digit multiplication strategies, including the traditional algorithm, partial products, and lattice.
